Rachel Marmer

Rachel Marmer is a second year Masters of Science (MSc) Psychotherapy student at McMaster University and aims to register with the College of Registered Psychotherapists (CRPO) upon completion of her degree. Currently, Rachel is completing her second clinical practicum placement at Sageview Health where she provides individual psychotherapy to adults with diverse needs.
Prior to joining the team at Sageview Health, Rachel co mpleted an Honours Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from the University of Guelph. Rachel has had an opportunity to explore the intricacies of the human mind and how it shapes our experiences. Her academic path has provided her with a solid foundation in understanding the biological underpinnings of mental health. Her first clinical practicum placement took place in a rural private practice where she learned how to support individuals seeking support to navigate anxiety, trauma, depression and grief.
In her professional endeavors, Rachel worked as an Addictions Counsellor at a residential treatment centre for over a year where she provided individual and group counselling to adult men in the union construction trades. In this position, Rachel worked with diverse client populations and developed a greater understanding of the complexities surrounding addiction and mental health.
Rachel provides Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). She emphasizes providing collaborative, holistic, and culturally sensitive care that encompasses individual values and beliefs. Rachel is passionate about the transformative power of therapy and believes that every individual is capable of fostering resilience in the face of adversity.
