Dr. Alix Urbanowicz

Psychologist

Dr. Alix Urbanowicz, C.Psych. graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. She is a member in good standing of the College of Psychologists and Behavior Analysts of Ontario.

Dr Urbanowicz initially began working in private practice on a part-time basis in 1992 while working in clinical settings including the Centre for Addictions and Mental Health, the Halton District School Board, Kinark, and the ROCK. Dr. Urbanowicz entered full-time private practice in 2001 where she supervised many graduate students and Psychologists in their year of Supervised Practice, a necessary step to becoming an autonomous practitioner. She served for many years on the Licensing Committee with the College of Psychologists of Ontario conducting qualifying interviews with candidates to become autonomous practitioners.

Dr. Urbanowicz’s clinical areas of interest through her career have included assessment and treatment with children with learning disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, anxiety, depression, OCD, and adjustment disorders. With adults she has focussed on anxiety, depression, OCD, work place stress, and parenting.

At present, Dr. Urbanowicz is working with young adults through to seniors with anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, retirement challenges, and chronic health issues, supporting senior care, and adjustment in later stages of life.

Dr. Urbanowicz uses an integrative approach to therapy drawing on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, and Self Psychology.
