Dr. Juwairia Sohail

Dr. Juwairia Sohail is a Psychologist who specializes in supporting children, adolescents, parents, and families. Dr. Sohail provides treatment for a range of difficulties, including concerns related to anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, selective mutism, depression, self-esteem, sleep, social functioning, ADHD, emotional and behavioural dysregulation, the parent-child or familial relationship, attachment, and trauma. She also has a special interest in supporting parents. Through individualized consultation, Dr. Sohail aims to empower caregivers to connect with and facilitate the emotional and behavioural wellbeing of their child. In addition to individual and family therapy, Dr. Sohail provides comprehensive psychoeducational and psychological assessments to children and adolescents.
In supporting her clients, Dr. Sohail brings a warm, compassionate, and client-centered stance. Through this collaborative and trusting relationship, she is dedicated to empowering those she supports in creating meaningful change and living fulfilling lives. Treatment goals and plans are tailored to the unique needs of each individual, drawing upon Dr. Sohail’s experience with a number of evidence-based therapies, including cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), emotion focused family therapy (EFFT), relational and attachment-focused therapies, narrative therapy, and psychodynamic play therapy.
Dr. Sohail obtained her M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in School and Clinical Child Psychology at the University of Toronto (Ontario Institute for Studies in Education). She completed her predoctoral residency at the Reach Out Centre for Kids (ROCK), which involved clinical rotations in child and family treatment, treatment for children under six, and psychological assessments for children and adolescents. Dr. Sohail has also trained at the SickKids Centre for Community Mental Health (previously: The Hincks-Dellcrest Centre), Kinark Child and Family Services, the OISE/UofT Psychological Clinic, and the Peel District School Board. Her distinctions include Masters and Doctoral awards from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC).
