Dr. Tsubasa (Subie) Sawashima

Psychologist

Dr. Sawashima completed her Ph.D. at the University of Windsor. She completed her residency at the London Clinical Psychology Residency Consortium. Her advanced clinical training included rotations in the OSI clinic (military and first responders trauma), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy program (mood and anxiety), Psychosis program (schizophrenia and spectrum disorders), and Regional Rehabilitation services (recovery from acquired brain injury and spinal cord injury). She has worked in a variety of settings including hospitals, forensic, community, and school services. Her interests are in both treatment and assessment, with a special focus on striving to integrate empirically-supported approaches to deliver services.

Dr. Sawashima works primarily with adults. She provides treatment for various difficulties including: trauma, anxiety, depression, other mood difficulties, grief, and psychosis. She strives to work together with clients to build a safe, non-judgemental, trusting relationship. She believes that this professional relationship serves as the foundation of all clinical work. In this client-centered environment, clients could work through their difficulties at a pace that is comfortable for them and move toward their desired change. Her theoretical orientation is integrative, with training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotion-focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure-based Therapies, and multicultural counselling. She is also trained in providing psychodiagnostic and psychoeducational assessments.
