Dr. Alan Chan
Psychologist and Director
Dr. Chan is the Co-founder and Director of B&C Health. In 2008, Dr. Chan became a registered psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario with practice areas in both Clinical and Health Psychology with adults and seniors. He performs independent comprehensive psychological disability assessments and treats a variety of difficulties including mood, anxiety, and trauma. He also delivers clinical health psychology services to help patients cope with medical difficulties such as chronic pain, sleep difficulties, cancer, cardiovascular disease, smoking cessation, and other lifestyle diseases.
Since 2009, he has provided psychological assessment and treatment at the Psychological Trauma Program and the Work, Stress, & Health Program at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). From 2007-2009, he completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Cognitive & Behavioural Health Program at Baycrest Centre and the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute.
Dr. Chan has taught at Ryerson University, the University of Western Ontario, and the University of Toronto, as well as supervised psychologists and students. Dr. Chan was awarded his doctorate from the Clinical Psychology Program at the University of Western Ontario in 2008 and his Master’s from the Institute of Medical Science at the University of Toronto in 2001. In 2006, he completed his pre-doctoral residency at the Calgary Clinical Psychology Program including the Primary Mental Health Care Program and the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. In 2002, Dr. Chan began his clinical training in London, Ontario including the Rheumatology Day Program, Affective and Anxiety Disorders Service, Victoria Family Medical Centre, and Cardiac Rehabilitation and Secondary Prevention Program.
Dr. Chan’s distinctions include: (1) 2008 Canadian Institutes Health Research Post-doctoral Fellowship in Health Services & Policy, (2) 2004 Canadian Institutes Health Research National Training Fellowship in Primary Health Care, (3) 2003 & 2004 Ontario Graduate Scholarship in Science & Technology, and (4) 2000 Doctoral & 1998 Master’s National Science & Engineering Research Council of Canada Postgraduate Scholarships.
