Jennie Martow
Practicum Student Therapist
Jennie is a PhD student in Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology at the University of Guelph. She has conducted psychoeducational assessments and psychotherapy for youth and families in her work as a clinician across University of Guelph’s Maplewoods Centre For Family Therapy and Child Psychology, the Upper Grand District School Board, and Insight Psychology. At Sageview Health, Jennie continues to provide assessment and therapy services to children, adolescents, and families.
Jennie approaches her clinical work with warmth, curiosity, and a strong belief in collaborative care. She draws on evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and positive psychology/strengths-based models. Regardless of the modality used or specific goals identified, she upholds an affirming, empowering, and safe space for a diversity of clients including members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and racialized groups.
Jennie works with her clients to identify their strengths and values to clarify goals, deepen self-understanding, and leverage resources to overcome challenges. She has experience supporting clients with a range of concerns, including anxiety, mood difficulties, emotion regulation, and social challenges. Additionally, she prioritizes neurodiversity affirming care to not only support areas of difficulty, but identify, promote, and celebrate the strengths in differences.
Jennie’s research within the Resilient Youth Research Group aims to identify ways to integrate positive psychology principles (e.g., well-being, strengths, sense of meaning) within psychological assessment practice which further informs her clinical practice.
In all, Jennie is committed to providing a compassionate and supportive space for youth and their families as they work together toward meaningful change.
