Rya Buckley

Supervised Therapist

Rya Buckley (she/her) is a PhD student in School and Clinical Child Psychology at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) at the University of Toronto. She is currently completing her practicum placement at Sageview Health. She received her Masters of Arts in School and Clinical Child Psychology from OISE and her honours Bachelor of Science in Biology, Psychology, Neuroscience, and Behaviour from McMaster University. Her previous clinical practica took place at the Toronto District School Board and the OISE Psychology Clinic, where she conducted psychological assessments with children and adolescents with a variety of concerns, including mood, attention challenges, and learning disabilities. At Sageview Health, Rya provides individual psychotherapy to children and adolescents with diverse needs.

As a therapist, Rya prioritizes creating a safe and affirming environment for her clients and believes in fostering collaboration with clients and families on their therapeutic goals. She draws upon multiple modalities to best meet the needs of each client, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

Rya has received several distinctions, including the Inlight Fellowship for student mental health research, the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Counsel Doctoral Fellowship and Canadian Graduate Scholarship – Master’s, as well as the Ontario Graduate Scholarship at the masters and doctoral levels. Her research explores help-seeking experiences among emerging adults from minoritized backgrounds, particularly racialized and 2SLGBTQIA+ communities.
