Providing couples with the tools they need to improve their romantic relationships and resolve interpersonal conflict
During couples therapy, you will work with your therapist both individually and as a couple and focus on the presenting concerns in your relationship, this could include things like feeling disconnected from each other, infidelity or other betrayals, lack of intimacy or recurring conflict surrounding communication, parenting, finances, balancing work and home life.
What to expect:
You’ll meet with your therapist over a series of 3-4 assessment sessions. The first session is conducted with the couple followed by an individual appointment with each person. A fourth session is sometimes required with the couple to complete the assessment.
Couples sessions are typically 90 minutes in length whereas individual sessions are 60 minutes. During the course of treatment, couples will continue to have both couple and individual appointments with their therapist to discuss their concerns and progress. The length of therapy is dependent on the couple, the length of the relationship and individual histories. This is something that can be discussed with your therapist at the time of your assessment.
